Re: Starter motor/power steering pump for 2003 manual WRX.

I've done the PS rebuild you linked to - http://ozfoz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1040307#p1040307 It's pretty easy, just make sure you buy a new bearing and a new oil seal for the bearing. If the oil seal has leaked (it probably has), then the bearing will be stuffed. Also check amayama or partsouq w...

Re: 99 wrx Stuttering on wot

Wouldn't be surprised if you're running out of fuel with the OEM pump on WOT. Very common for GC era. Make sure your next round of mods includes a DW300 or Walbro 255 if you're still running the stock pump.

Re: Shifting and speedo issues

I did find one black wire with white spots down it that looks like it has fallen out of a harness plug but cannot find where it belongs There is a transmission ground that is black with white dashes, attaches to the chassis next to the pitch stop mount if I remember correctly. Could that be the loo...

Re: MY99 Knock sensor replacement

Can be easier to get the TMIC back on if you leave the passenger side TMIC bracket attached to the IC and instead unbolt it from the motor. More importantly, it prevents you from accidentally banging the back IC fins on the bracket while trying to force the Y pipe onto the turbo. Best get used to ge...

Remove securing bolts from intercooler.
Remove intercooler.

…also
Leave bypass valve (aka BOV) attached to TMIC, undo its hose clamp instead. This preserves the seal (and gasket).

Re: Help - Fuel Tank Problem

Besides the hump in the middle at the back, that looks damned close to more modern subie tanks. Why are they said to be incompatible? Are the mounting points different? The 3 hardlines toward the engine are the same, the pump access panel looks the same. I've got an 03 wrx tank here and a 99 turbo f...

Re: 1997 WRX

Sorry I can't find any info on the final drive ratio of either of those boxes :(
They appear to both be UK gearbox codes, perhaps ask on scoobynet if no one here can help further.

Re: JDM spec help required re: GDB auto intercooler spray

Yeah for sure, nothing to lose in trying! I don't know if the manifold temp (IAT) tables for autowash are in the romraider defs, but if so you may even be able to change those values so that the ECU considers a null reading (ie: no IAT sensor) as a suitable condition to trigger autowash (pending cor...

Re: JDM spec help required re: GDB auto intercooler spray

JDM spec model runs all off the ECU readings for auto spray timing Correct, but unfortunately I believe you're missing a part of the JDM intercooler autowash system -- the temperature sensor in the manifold, fitted underneath the throttle body. Supposedly the ECU uses manifold air temperature, cool...

Re: Hello from TyreCompare!

Fair enough that I only get the screen asking for more info, as I'm ~75km from Melbourne. As a consumer it would have been less off-putting for me if the form asking for my personal details emphasised that I was only getting asked this because I'm not near any registered dealers.

Re: 1997 WRX

99 is when they switched to 8 bolt transmission to engine pattern instead of four. My understanding is that you'll be fine, there'll just be 4 unused bolt holes in the '99 gearbox. Compare your current box to your intended replacement on this table to ensure they're both the same final drive (to avo...

Hang on... http://i.imgur.com/XO4lpZK.jpg Is that your MAF sensor jammed into the side of the pod filter? (the squarish unit with orange plastic on the underside) I sure hope not!! Don't bother cleaning that coolant top tank, the cap seal will be destroyed as well. Looks like a major overheating eve...

Non-colour coded mirrors and door handles, ignitor pack centred on manifold instead of offset so it's not 00.
Looks like it's suffered some serious ill-treatment though. That coolant top tank is f***ed!

Why not convert to manual? Sounds like less pissing about than attempting to reprogram the trans controller.
