Re: Opinions on current setup and possibly upgrades

From what you have explained I'm certain your injectors would be the issue. If your tuner said it's conservative he'd be holding back the power in the top end to keep the duty cycle safe. A safe tune won't see 190-200kw (which your current set up should do on 98) with 440's. you need at least 550's ...

Re: '13 STI dump and mid or full TBE?

Yeah mate, the car has pretty effortless power delivery now and it's a real Jekyll and Hyde with the stock cat back exhaust, dramatic change in noise when you get on boost! Travel is a good investment mate, I did a lot when I was younger and never regretted a cent I spent on it (I'm 43 now). There w...

Re: '13 STI dump and mid or full TBE?

Just as a follow up to this, did you get your car done specr?

How did it go, what mods did you go with?

Mine now has a process west intake and verticooler plus 3 port boost solenoid and is re tuned to 17psi. 210kw@tw.

Re: Clunking and Popping H&R Springs

+1 to the advice above. I can tell you in my rx7 track car I had spring binding/popping noises from one of my front springs. I reseated the thing several times, could not work it out. Eventually it turned out the strut was damaged in the spring perch area, a rotary Mechanic identified it and repaire...

Re: Clunking and Popping H&R Springs

Should not do this mate, it's highly unlikely it's the spring at fault, something is wrong with the fitting. Maybe not seated correctly?

AC good, timing belt is only needed at 125K. Mine is tuned and seems to go pretty consistently day to day, slightly better in colder weather.

Re: First drag with my GC8 at Eastern Creek

You should crack 12's. As a comparison my EVO IX (1400kg) had 227kw atw and ran 12.55 @110MPH. It's all in your launch/60ft time. Have fun. Andy

Re: First drag with my GC8 at Eastern Creek

Quite fun isn't it. I take all my cars out at least once to have a go. MPH is the best indicator of potential. I ran 12.99 @ 106.5MPH in my 05 wagon (198kw atw) at the creek. What MPH did you get?

Re: For the love of a classic - MY99 GC8

We have 2 gc8s both with 2.5 engines and all the goodies and I would be happy with 13...but would need to strip out subs and amps and spare wheel etc etc and have no regard for gearbox or clutch when launching and I just cant bring myself to do that. The sti gc8 is even worse as it has a closer box...

Re: For the love of a classic - MY99 GC8

Ha, you are a sucker for a poor old mistreated car just like me! There is some weird satisfaction in saving them. I am loving your thread so far, please keep going. VF34 and a front mount is a super fun combination on a 2litre btw, I had this and loved it, it just feels so fast on the street, a bit ...

Re: Catted DP VS Catless?

If it's a specific sound you want then cool, go for it, your assertion that all aftermarket turbo back exhausts are illegal and open you up to huge fines is unlikely and the first thing they will look for is a cat. If it's an EPA test they may even stick a camera in to see if it's been punched throu...

Re: Catted DP VS Catless?

If you get pulled up and epa tested and caught with no catalytic converter the fines will be HUGE. I can't see why you should risk this to save a small amount of money and no discernible gain in performance with your level of mods? Cat less dumps should really be a race only mod

Re: Unable to boost past 15psi

I would have expected gate pressure stock would be more likely around 7-10psi (note this is only talking from what I know from other modified turbo cars not specific to your model wrx so I could be wrong). It definitely wouldn't be 15 though (that's way too high for a stock car). Have you considered...
