Re: The dreaded knock - bottom end bearing

Go new, for the price you save it could cost 3 fold when the second hand unit goes pop too...

Re: up grading my 2006 wrx head unit and speakers

Front I'd recommend some good quality 6" splits - Focal, Hertz, etc Will need some spacers for the front - Aerpro APS324 is the model I believe. You can use the oem tweeter brackets in the door panels and some double sided tape (3M) to secure them or mount the tweeters on the A pillar. You shou...

Re: Connector on its own near fuse box.

That's a diagnostic plug from memory, I'd be checking clutch/brake switches for CC as a start. They are mounted above the pedal box

Re: 2002 b4 liberty, ej25t engine conversion from 2012 wrx

Very much so... The B4 ECU and wiring won't run the GR 2.5L Running gear the GR gearboxes use ABS sensors for vehicle speed, so you won't have a working speedometer.. Most common thing I have seen people do is go single turbo. This will involve a long block and ECU from a GD WRX (from what I have re...

WTB; 2005 STI

As the title suggests, after an unfortunate incident a few weeks ago, my pride and joy was written off. So I am wanting to get back into another STI. What I am looking for; - clean, low km, late 05 STI (5x114.3 & DCCD) - preferably white or blue, but will look at other options - ideally in WA - ...

Re: Replacing horn pad and steering wheel on 1998 WRX

basic procedure; 1. Disconnect battery, wait a few minutes 2. T20/T30 Torx bit iirc there are 2 screws in either side of the airbag module, removed them 3. Slide the center/airbag module out and disconnect the airbag connector with a small flat head (Youtube for this tutorial) 4. 17mm bolt secures t...

Re: Ej207 shortblock help

I'm not 100% sure on the 05 WRX having AVCS, I'd be inclined to think it is only single AVCS like the 02 STI has. What I would be doing is trying to source some 01-02 WRX heads that DON'T have AVCS as a retrofit is a pretty costly and time consuming venture. 02 STI also has single AVCS in the inlet ...

Re: ECU / engine change

By swapping the motors, are we talking the whole engine?

If it was just a bottom end swap, you should be able to keep the ECU from the 08 (as this is coded to the ignition barrel and won't work with the donor cars ECU) and it should run.

Re: STI Wing fitment issues

All GD boots are the same, only differences are the bumpers.

OP looks like it could be a replica wing, they are often not a great fit compared to oem.

Can you see any markings under the wing, will be stamped Fuji Heavy Industries if it's a genuine unit.

Re: IS THERE ANY DIFFRENCE IN 05/06 STI SEATS

IMO the Bug STI seats are the best out the lot.

They are a more snug fit, but better side bolsters.

The 06 STi seats sit higher up (in a bug STI that being)

I use the ATI pod and haven't had any issues here in WA.

As long as it's not slapped in the middle of the dash and obscuring your vision, should be fine.

Re: Mods for reduced turbo lag in city driving.

just get it tuned first with a down pipe, intake and 3 port boost solenoid. I'm sure you will be satisfied enough once thats done. also lightweight wheels and carbon fibre drive shaft would help a lot too but a bit pricey. A carbon fiber driveshaft.... Why? Waste of money unless you have excessive ...

I'd be looking at a low km late 05 STI

= Bigger 114.3 hubs and bearings + DCCD

and the last of the bulletproof 207's

Re: Mods for reduced turbo lag in city driving.

What mods has the car got currently?

As above the 01 WRX's were known as Slugeyes due to the sheet gearbox ratios.

Would recommend a good dyno tune - Tokyo Motorsports or Evo R are still doing open source tuning in Perth.

Racetorque and MMS offer ECUTEK I believe

Best bit of advice...

Rip the *entire* system out and replace with either a Mongoose M80 or Autowatch 446RLI

Re: 2006 WRX brake upgrade

1. DBA T2's or better
2. Decent Pads - PMU, Intima, EBC
3. Good fluid and full flush (critical)

Combined will have the brakes performing very well
