Re: First drag with my GC8 at Eastern Creek

Great fun!! Best mph was 110mph which was my 3rd run. Best time i recorded was at 108mph. Spewing i haven't cracked into the 12s. I was told I could possibly get very low 12s/high 11s by my tuner but he was probably telling me what i want to hear. GC8s are approx 1250kg (the lightest of the WRXs) pl...

First drag with my GC8 at Eastern Creek

Hey guys, Took my GC8 to the Creek tonight and ran a 13.050 down the quarter mile. Pretty happy for my first time ever. First run was 14.8 (DISGUSTING i know) then second run got me the 13.050 which I'm pretty happy for my first night. (3rd run was 13.102, bogged the launch which stuffed me) The car...

Custom GC8 AFM

Hey guys, So I was wondering if there was any disadvantages of having the standard GC8 AFM housing that is 80mm to the aftermarket 90mm housing you get for the cold air intake side as well out the outgoing side to the turbo. Would that 10mm of air capacity difference possibly restrict the car result...

Re: GC8 WRX idling issue

Wow just cleaner out my iacv and i used about 15 ear buds cleaning it out. The first 5 were black as the night! Car felt nice driving an didnt fluctuate in revs at all which is a good sign so far

Re: GC8 WRX cold air intake

the later model ones have the sensor in the CAI as it is part of the air box in a stock set up where as on the gc8s its in the MAF tube, my99/00 has a bigger MAF housing than a later model CAI also Have you got any photos you could show? I just want to try and replace any old standard piping. Do yo...

GC8 WRX cold air intake

Looking at upgrading the stock air intake to a cold air intake probably from proces west but the only concern ive got is how on a gc8 the pipe stops before the afm sensor and doesnt include it like any wrx onwards from the gc8. I want to try and get silicon or steel piping all the way to the silicon...

Re: GC8 WRX idling issue

Let me see if I am understanding this correctly. Mods done and tune done on dyno and all looks good. Taken for test drive and problem found with idle. It is 7pm Friday night. Take the car home for the weekend and take it back Monday to be looked at. Thats right. I couldnt take it home because it ke...

Re: GC8 WRX idling issue

" My tuner said it was running beautifully on the dyno but once one of his mechanic's took it for a quick road test it started idling funny, like mentioned above. " Why didn't your tuner pull the codes and tell you what was at fault? Because it was 7pm Friday night, maybe? I'm not 100% wh...

So suggesting a cold air intake? The CAI for a gc8 seem very basic compared to any WRX/STI onwards. The GC8 CAI stops before the actual AFM sensor and the versions onwards actually include the sensor. I want to try and remove as much standard OEM piping to the turbo

GC8 WRX idling issue

Hey everyone, I've recently had some work done to my car and I'm having an idling issue with the car. It fluctuates between (roughly) 1200rpm down to 200rpm and sometime steadys itself or it stalls. It also (on start up) can rev up to 1200rpm then slowly go down by 200rpm each second passing then st...

Re: VF28 or VF34!?

Agreed, gone against it and bought myself a Blouch 1.5 xtr instead. Fitting that this weekend with the new 1000cc injectors i got and process west tmic on e85. Been told i should be able to get around 240kw atw! I thought you'd make a lot more then that on e85 with that turbo, would love to hear ho...

Re: VF28 or VF34!?

I have a v6 sti and the factory vf28 died so I fitted a vf34. It's not worth spending the money to swap from one to the other with all the same mods just the turbo changed the vf28 made 203kw at 18psi and the vf34 made 211 at 19psi. So unless your vf28 dies it isn't worth changing Agreed, gone agai...
