Re: which tuner?

HPF tuned a bucketload of cars back in the day with Ecutek and they did more than just change the first letter of the ROM in order to protect their tunes. For Motec, etc they used passwords.

Today they have probably switched to opensource which won't give them as many options for locking tunes.

Bump... At Divisive Media we're running an exclusive, closed beta for our latest game 'Vigilante: Speak for the Dead' and it'd be cool if you jumped on board! There are only roughly 500 spots available and it's first in, first served. So, if you have an iOS device you can play the game on, head to h...

Re: Melted piston engine failure!

A few possible causes... Blocked, faulty or dodgy fuel injector. Depending on tune and ECU used, too much timing (trim) in that cylinder. If it's at the soft spot in the rail setup then it will have lower fuel pressure unless you have a parallel rail setup or similar. Wrong temp range spark plug in ...

Re: neighbor exhaust complaint

Idling your car for 5 minutes first thing in the morning is probably the worst thing you can do for your engine, it's not a rotary! Reverse it in so you can start it and drive straight out in the morning. The best way to warm the engine up is to drive it under light to moderate load and don't rev it...

But I also acknowledge that it also include the cost of time spent behind the scenes to develop such a tune for a particular car and time setting up and road testing. At the end of the day, I...

Re: Big end bearing - can you still drive around (temporarily)?

Yep Steve, it sounds farked! Paul, we do the upper engine cleaner every 5K or so, and it's been about 3K since last service. After a day of hacking around I'm none the wiser. We removed each coil pack with the engine running and the noise remained unchanged. We changed the spark plugs and this prov...
