Re: WTB: Bank 1 valve for secondary air pump (06 WRX) needed ASAP

Is it stuck open or closed?

If it's closed, you can unplug it and disable the code via romraider (PM me if you need any help)

Re: Crazy torque reading?

WRXs used a 4.444 rear diff until at least 08 in Australia. It was in the US they used 3.7s, 3.9s, etc. Also, I believe the Nm calculated is flywheel Nm (as it takes into account the gear ratio - you wouldn't need to if you were converting to Nm atw). However it doesn't account for drivetrain loss (...

Re: Crazy torque reading?

RHS is "tractive effort" The tractive effort is obtained by multiplying the torque by the total ratio of the power train and dividing this sum by the rolling radius of the driving tyres. T = (TE x r)/(1000 x R) Where: T= Motor torque in Nm TE = Tractive Effort in N R = Overall gear reducti...

Provided it within spec (surface, cracks, size).
Then yes. That's what specs exist for.

Re: WRX 05 Head gasket replacement - Melbourne - Refer a place!

There's no point replacing it if it's not blown. A new head gasket is just as likely to blow as an old head gasket with modding. HGs blow because you have high cylinder pressures and stretch head bolts. (Or because you overheat and warp heads  ) If you want to 'future proof' or 'mod proof' you...

Re: my10STI-locking the camshafts while changing timing belt

Good choice. I just installed a genuine belt and tensioner on Xmas eve (idlers were done 50k ago). To get the belt and the markings lining up, probably some huge number like 2467 turns as the number of teeth in the belt is different left-right and isn't a multiple of the cam gears. It's like shuffli...

Re: my10STI-locking the camshafts while changing timing belt

"Company 21" makes a nice range of Subaru/Ej specific tools for engine work, including the cam locks you speak of. Adam (tu from tuspeed on here) sells them. Or if youre a fitter/turner you could possibly fab something up yourself pretty easily. As for belts/pulleys/etc. Just stick with OE...

Re: What exhaust should i get for my rs2.5 impreza

Nothing built for the turbo-application will fit - the piping is a larger size, as too is the flange. The flange also sits at a different angle. They can be made to fit easily enough at an exhaust shop - just wont be a straight bolt-on in the garage at home. With all that said, a loud muffler with t...

Re: Headed for E85 ... mod list

Remember he's going e85 there. Injectors will be close. I'm aware. E85 uses (on average) 30% more fuel for any given power compared with 98. Now sketching out some fast and loose maths here that makes 850cc injectors capable of supporting what a 650cc on would on 98. Given the 550cc OEM 'blues' on ...

Re: Headed for E85 ... mod list

I reckon you'll run out of turbo before injectors.
Either way, ballpark 200kW (250-280hp) atw, maybe a whisker more depending on the rest of the setup (we don't have a lot of info about the rest of the car/engine)

I have a set in pretty good condition with some 225/45/17s (2x Contisports, 2x Adrenalines) sitting in the relo's garage collecting dust. Were the snow set.

What kind of time period are you needing them in?
I wouldn't be down that way until next Monday to take any pictures.

Re: 2003 WRX Steering Shudder

I had the same problem when I had by engine out and had to re-bleed the system. I assume it was air in the rest of the system (ie rack, etc) but it certainly gave me a fright. I actually turned the car off instantly because I thought it was engine! After a few good lock-to-locks (with decreasing shu...

Re: Impreza RX '08 Intake & Exhaust

Simply changing the muffler will 'release' the sound. With that said, the OEM header is EL (even-length), so you wont get much/if any of that uneven/lumpy boxer engine note Subaru's are famous for. For that you'll need UEL (UnEven-Length) headers. It's been a few years since I've looked into the opt...
