Re: Secure mount for phone

Iphone mount, that fulfils the rules technically. But it then depends on chief scrutineer for the day. Strictly as the days are currently being timed to 4 decimal points, why do you need Harry? Yep first come first served, see Brendan, tall, balding in Track Uniform and drives a big ute. Sent from m...

Re: WRX Motorsport 2018

Actually, the original of the current system was put in, to get rid of the “ if you have an xyz model 2 shocker you cannot have a model 45 cross brace” type thing. Just too complex. The base idea i used was that it all rotated around the throughput of the turbo. So i could start by giving points dep...

Re: WRX Motorsport 2018

I have been very interested in watching this style of points based classes develop since it was introduced. Though its introduction caused a bit of a stir at the time ;-( But it was much more transparent and easy to understand that the previous system. The comment someone made earlier about it allow...

Re: FHR devices

Aha You need to make sure you have the right one from Simpsons. Actually They confused me According to Simpsons USA the compatible one is the hybrid s http://simpsonraceproducts.com/hybrid/hybrid-s-3-point-belt-compatible/ Which is $US 1160 Australia Simpsons. $1599. Revolution $1749 Which has FIA n...

Re: FHR devices

I should come up for a look as well, i want a good look at them in action. Or come to the SAU/VSSC event at Sandown on 30th They seem to be aimed at the American HPDE level, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Performance_Driver_Education Which seems to be more like the Commercial Drive Day/ Come a...

Re: FHR devices

Ok You need to first watch that video that was linked. The SFI 38.1 test uses a 70g peak stop from 63kph (40mph) (From 63 to 0 in 26millisecs and 220mm) But they only used A 23 g test from 29mph [say 48 kmh] The excuse is given that the car and belts couldn't take the higher loads Which is a little ...

FHR devices

I think that the FIA homologation for normal HANS device is based on its dimensions, strength and lack of stretch, they have been around for 25 years. Everyone knows they work. The hybrid ones are relatively new, so even though FIA say there is no perfect standard test using a crash test dummy, they...

FHR devices

Yep your accident is proof we must introduce them at our level. And it demonstrates that it is not all about a head on crash that we need them for. This is going to be a long thread. http://www.fia.com/file/2693/download/9054?token=3vCE3uGx One of the interesting things is that the FIA testing says ...

Re: FHR devices

Yep, though i would like to see some real test results on it using only a lapsash. It also seems that getting people in and out might be easier as well. It would be nice if the advertising etc around it was more fact and less hype. Plus their instructions about drilling your own helmet is just not o...

Re: FHR devices

Yep, I read all that some months ago. And talked it over with Simpsons Australia at the time. My point is still the same, It is only homologated for use by FIA in a race vehicle with full homologated seat, harness and helmet. That it very likely does provide increased safety if you are in a road car...

Re: FHR devices

Well, that is the latest from FIA ( June 2017) THE hybrid S is listed as homologated with a full 6 point harness on the acceptable list. http://www.fia.com/file/60523/download/9188?token=pJQY64Ym The claim in the Simpson advertising is only that it is also compatible with a three point harness, not ...

Re: FHR devices

The last time I looked the Simpsons hybrid only has FIA Approval for use with full harness. The SFI test used to test a FHR only does so using a full race seat, 6 point harness etc, FIA uses that result. Which if you think about it makes perfect sense. Why would FIA which is all about race cars appr...
