Re: Power Steering Pump

Ended up getting the pump rebuilt by Warwick at Ultimate Power Steering in Brendale QLD after a recommendation from Russell at Subievolution.

$400 fitted, couldn't be happier with the quality, attention to detail & the service.

Power Steering Pump

Have a MY05 & the power steering pump has finally packed it in after 12 months of whining. Been given replacement prices of around $800 2nd hand & upwards of $2k new, does anyone have any recommendations on a cheaper reliable source?

I am located in Brisbane but happy to ship.

Re: The daily driver WRX tyre thread.

Has anyone running Dunlop Direzza Star specs (225/45 x 17") experimented with tyre pressures at all? Got mine fitted the weekend before last, drove home in a filthy storm & put the car in the garage. Took the car out last weekend for five hours, predominantly freeway but 150km of quiter rur...

Re: Brisbane Mechanic

Thanks all. Based on the above recommendations I ended up going to Russell at Subievolution. Great service, knowledgable bloke. He will be getting my return business.

Noise Emitting from Passenger Front Wheel

Have recently started to hear a noise coming from the passenger front wheel of my MY05 WRX. It is a squeaking/scraping type sound that increases with car speed. Turning to the left will cause the noise to disappear but maintaining a straight line or turning to the right, the noise is always present....

Fog Lights MY05

Noticed this morning that one of my fog lights has blown. Can anyone tell me whether they are a sealed unit or whether I can simply change the bulb.

Aplogies for sounding lazy but it happened this morning on my way to work and was raining so I wasnt keen to grovel under the car in my work kit :)

Re: The daily driver WRX tyre thread.

Sorry, been a while since I been online. The 45k km on the RE070's was a combination of highway & city driving but is predominantly city as I live in the ACT. Have also done a couple of track days at Wakefield Park & general spirited driving. Car has Tein coilovers & a rear sway as well ...

Re: The daily driver WRX tyre thread.

Just ordered my 2nd set of Bridgestone Potenza's RE070's. Got 45000km's out of my current set & at around $350 a corner I couldn't be happier.

Used as a daily driver & occassional track days, handles sensationally in the dry & better then expected in the wet.

I went the Tein Super Street Coilovers, Whiteline 24mm adjustable rear sway bar (& heavy duty links) and Whiteline ALK. The installer (Inline Steering in Queanbeyan NSW) reckons the front sway bar is unnecessary of everything else is set up right. Did a track day on Monday at Wakefield Park in G...

Under no circumstances would I use the Federal SS595's again. Extremely noisey & terrible handling under normal street conditions. The only positive factor was they wear extremely well. The Maxzis MAZ1's have got good raps in other postings on this forum & are well priced if you are chasing ...

Just fitted RE70's. Cost $350 per corner at Bob Jane Fyshwick (Canberra). Only come in 225/45/17 so have had a small increase over the previous RE50's 215/45/17. Slight increase in road noise but not offensive. Astonishingly grip levels in the dry & suprisingly good grip in the wet. Had Federal ...

I have had similiar problems with Capital Subaru not identfying issues with noisy rear struts on my MY05. It was only as a result of research on this forum that I was able to diagnose the problem myself & go back to them to rectify while the car is still under warranty. End result is three repla...

Definately sounds like rear struts. I have a MY05 & have taken it back to Subaru a number of times regarding the sound. After getting a "can't find any fault" a number of times I went to a suspension shop who advised that both rear struts were siezed. Again back to Subaru with the diag...
