EJ20G options

Postby Big_Red » Sun Jul 09, 2017 12:39 pm

Hi guys, have done quite a lot of searching but haven't quite managed to get the answers I require.

Have a 98 GC8 Rex with a ej20g/Auto. Current engine has a bottom end knock along with quite a few other issues.

Can I use a complete early ej205 (non avcs) with the ej20g loom/ecu??

Being Auto I don't want the headache of trying to wire in a different ecu. Converting to manual is NOT an option. I know I can use a ej205 short block with the G heads. but that's no more cost effective or all that much time saving then rebuilding what I've got.

Leave it auto and get a 2.5 liter bottom end and use your 2 liter heads, loom etc, etc, etc ... We have 2.5s in both our gc8s and the torque is amazing.. I wish my blue one was an auto...

This is my sisters car, I'm not looking to increase performance it was a quick enough car for her stock.

I do have access to a ~2010 ej253, fairly late single cam low km short motor, but after looking around it looked like compression would be far too high without dropping in some low comp slugs.
