Ultrex Exhaust, anyone running one?

Postby megamannz » Thu Dec 07, 2017 10:37 am

Hi all,
I'm looking for a Turbo back exhaust for my '09 WRX, I found Ultrex via google but have never seen their products before. Is any one running one of these or had experience with the product before?

Cheers

Had one on my 02 STI, fitment was great and quality is great as well.

Looked subtle and had a nice note on the loud pedal too.

I also run their headers, also very good quality and perfect fitment

I’m running a 3 inch turbo back of theirs on my GF8. It’s loud, which I like but may not please everyone. The fitment was a lot better than I was expecting I didn’t have to modify anything to fit it. The one drawback (other than how loud it is, which is no drawback for me haha) is that mine does drone a bit around 2000rpm so keep that in mind. I’m also running an XForce turbo back on my forester and that is fantastic in every way so that may be another option for you if you don’t want too much noise or drone

Does your Xforce have the Milo tin ^^

Or the twin tip.

Wishing I'd kept my Ultrex as the Xforce I have on my new car has horrendous drone.

What one you got? I have the xforce twin tip and it sounds fine.

I had one on my sedan purchased in 2014. To be honest - it's good bang for buck, but you definitely get a much better quality product from the bigger names.

The good:
1. Sound is pretty good. Fairly generic but the obvious Subaru rumble and not droney.
2. Performance was good. Design of the dump specifically was as per all the competition and will result in good power gains for you.

The bad:
1. Fitment was not great - section lengths were not close enough and required the exhaust shop to fabricate an additional flange (about 1 inch thick!) to mate the dump to the mid-pipe. Ultrex may have fixed this but check first.
2. The welds at the turbo side flange all leaked after a couple of years as the pipe deformed. When I took it off it was daylight visible all the way around. I'm assuming the steel quality was not up to the heat coming from the turbo. I'm E85. I sold it though it was repairable.

Cheers.
