ive had dunlop sport 3000a on for the last 3 months... at first i really didnt think they were performance tyres.... before them i had yoki c drives.... but since ive warn them in well my thoughts have changed slightly lol. for the money the are great! no where near the corner grip as the c drives... but i got em for 170 a tyre! 215 45 17 beaurepairs were havn a special on them last year so they are def worth the money.. i woulda spent 400 bucks more just for the c drives so maybe its worth the extra? just depends wat u want to use them for... plus the dunlops will wear slower therefore lasting longer so ill save more money... but for daily driving they work well and the odd twisties do the job. just not as smoothly as the c drives.

Sorry, been a while since I been online.

The 45k km on the RE070's was a combination of highway & city driving but is predominantly city as I live in the ACT. Have also done a couple of track days at Wakefield Park & general spirited driving. Car has Tein coilovers & a rear sway as well as the new ball joints for the front end which allow more camber adjustment. In saying that, the wheel alignment is very nuetral to avoid scrubbing inside fronts.

More then happy with the Bridgestones RE070's & having tried the RE50's (OEM) & a cheap option, would consider nothing else. As I have previously mentioned, handle better then expected in the wet.

While my sucky times at Haunted Hills were an indicator of my total noobness, the Toyo R1R's that I put on the toy just recently really held up well at Haunted Hills, especially in the final untimed session, when the rubber was still warm and very grippy due to the shorter wait between the last two runs.

Looking at the rubber the next day, you could see where the rubber had softened and then re-solidified when it had cooled down, but wear had not been excessive.

Booked in with Ricky @ tyrepower essendon for some Khumo KU36 on saturday morning.

I've opted for the 225/45/17 size mainly to keep the closest ratio to the standard 205/50/17 tyres that come with the 08 wrx.

Should be good! will let you all know.

Loyalty is a great thing if it is rewarded with the best possible price.

Well, i was down at tyrepower essendon today and got my new tyres fitted Kumho ku 36.

I must say ricky really knows his stuff and it was worth every cent. Very happy with the service and wheel alignment. highly recommend you go there for your tyre needs.

Also had the pleasure of meeting another club member who coincidently was getting the same tyres fitted to his sti :> great to have a chat mate. With all the excitement of the new tyres i forgot your name

So far they feel so much better than the OEM tyres that come with the 08 wrx. haven't really had a chance to try them out, just drove straight home.

Anyway, will report back when they are scrubbed in!

I had a chat to Ricky this afternoon & unfortunately we procrastinated for too long & have been hit with an almost 18% price rise from Kumho. :thumbsdow:
Pirelli & Falken have drastically increased tyre pricing, too... :bat:
At close to $250 per tyre, they're still better value than the competition.

If anyone's legitimately interested in doing a group buy of the KU36's from Tyrepower Essendon, please PM me.
Ricky's in negotiation with Kumho to see if they will assist us in a bulk purchase! punk
