A lot of cars ran A048/A050 at Targa this year - most were running the medium compound.

I have used the A050 on the track and they were absolutely brilliant. By the same token I wouldn't use them as a daily drive street tyre as you need heat in them before they are effective. Without heat they are interesting

Kumho ku31 vs federal 595rpm.
I've been looking for some new tyres, went to two different workshops and got two different opinions, one said ku31 and the other said the 595rpm is a far more better tyre. I was leaning towards the ku31. Any thoughts?

Hi, I'm only new to the forum, but I bought some new RE002's today and I was wondering if they were directional treads? ie. is there a left and right hand side on them. Just bothers me that they aren't the same on both sides and indicates to me that the tyre place was just lazy when they ordered in the tyres. I'm from NSW as well, lots of interesting info nevertheless.

Details:
Tyre - Bridgestone Adrenalin RE002
Size - 215/45/17
Price - 200 each tyre
Where - Jax tyres St marys

at the risk of sounding like a gumbie (its ok cause I am one)

I recently bought a JDM 94 Legacy GT TT, I need to replace the tyres on them fairly soon, I know nothing about cars or tyres, I was wondering if some kind soul could suggest some good quality everyday driving tyres? I wouldnt want to spend more than $250 per corner

You need to tell us the size of the tyres...

And tell us what you prioritise - outright grip? Noise? Longevity? Ride comfort?

I have been driving on my new tyres ( and rims ) for a few days now and I think they are extraordinary. These tyres improve the handling of the car in a way that I thought only suspension mods could do, it is a very profound improvement. They are expensive, but I wanted to know what really good tyres feel like, at least once.

Got tyres from Bob Jane for $439 per corner.

Top choice, you wont be disappointed - have you gone to higher coefficient of friction brake pads yet? If you haven't you should think about it in order to get maximum benefit from your tires.

possibly, every chance it has different wheels on it though... if they are 16" it should be 205/50R16 or 17" should have 215/45R17

cheers

Yes, I am using Ferodo DS2500 pads on front, stock pads on back.

I like the way the car pulls up hard under brakes now, similar to the feeling you get when you pull on the front brake of a performance motorcycle, you can just wash off so much speed in an instant and still have a lot of control. The hard pull ups mentioned above would have caused my stock WRX to engage the ABS and that feels yucky on your foot.

Hi,

I need some new tyres for me car quite urgently. Been reading a few pages on the thread, and there is quite a range of tyres which all of you prefer or dislike. So its had to really difficult to pick one.

My current tyres are Bridgestone RE070 (OEM tyres 225/45/17) and my budget at the moment would be around the 250 dollar per corner.

For daily use and occasional street performance tyres, which one of these three
1) Potenza RE002 ( don't know if fit in the price range)
2) Ku31
3) Proxes 4

Cheers
Gavin

Gavin,

RE002's may be in your price range if you still have the 17's. Give Donnellans a call and ask them.

Also look into possibly getting your hands on a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE-11's. A mate got them off tirerack and he says they are fantastic. Havent had a chance to drive his car yet, but may try to over the weekend. Very similar to 002/001 and 070 in terms of tread pattern. Unsure of wear however.

I dont think I could move away from Bridgestones TBH, the 001's are fantastic. Heard that the 002's are even better.

Thanks Harbs

Is it Donnellans in Boxhill?
