Strut/spring set up re ride height gc8

Postby bigkizza » Sun Mar 25, 2018 3:40 pm

Hey guys,

Just out of interest, does anyone have an aftermarket spring/strut combo that sits at stock ride height or close too for gc8?

I put some used koni’s/Greddy progressive rate springs in a few months back and they are a tad low for my liking. Handles great but it’s dropped more than an inch.

I’ve read good reviews about eibach and sti springs and that the drop isn’t too bad.

Coilovers are out of the question unfortunately.

Any opinions/input/photos would be appreciated. Cheers

King Lows with stock struts make a great combo.. We have that on out CSE2 and it handles better than out sti and has a nicer ride.. Both have same whiteline sways and whiteline links..

If I were to do my MY00 GC8 again, I'd go Eibach springs with either oem replacement KYB Excel-G struts (or probably even the KYB AGX adjustables).

The Eibach's as I understand it are not quite as low as the H&R's I have currently and they're a tad more compliant.

I have a set of Pedders shocks with 2 different springs for them - king low and pedders super low. Will let them go very cheap if you are in Sydney. The king springs weren’t too low and handled pretty well

I’ve only heard good reviews of the eibachs, and if I do upgrade I’m leaning towards them. I took the car for a big hills cruise the other night and it handled awesome, I haven’t really taken it for a hard spin since putting in the konis/Greddys and it really surprised me.

Reckon I’m gonna keep what I have for the moment and just upgrade my front sway bar. Everyone tells me it doesn’t look low, i think I’m just anal. Can’t really justify another 600$ on a set of springs to bring it up 10mm haha
