First drag with my GC8 at Eastern Creek

Postby GRK-90D » Wed Mar 08, 2017 7:52 pm

Hey guys,

Took my GC8 to the Creek tonight and ran a 13.050 down the quarter mile. Pretty happy for my first time ever.

First run was 14.8 (DISGUSTING i know) then second run got me the 13.050 which I'm pretty happy for my first night. (3rd run was 13.102, bogged the launch which stuffed me)

The cars tuned at 228kw atw on e85 with supporting mods but basic internals.

I know i can drop the time even lower, first time though so I'll get better with expeirence.

What kind of results has everyone run before?

Quite fun isn't it. I take all my cars out at least once to have a go. MPH is the best indicator of potential. I ran 12.99 @ 106.5MPH in my 05 wagon (198kw atw) at the creek. What MPH did you get?

Great fun!!

Best mph was 110mph which was my 3rd run. Best time i recorded was at 108mph.

Spewing i haven't cracked into the 12s. I was told I could possibly get very low 12s/high 11s by my tuner but he was probably telling me what i want to hear.

GC8s are approx 1250kg (the lightest of the WRXs) plus with 228kw atw I'm hoping I can comfortably get into the 12s.. we'll see!!

You should crack 12's. As a comparison my EVO IX (1400kg) had 227kw atw and ran 12.55 @110MPH. It's all in your launch/60ft time. Have fun. Andy

Here's the list of performance mods done over the years

- Blouch Dom 1.5XT-R
- ProcessWest TMIC
- GFB BOV Respons TMS
- 3in TBE
- Walbro 500hp fuel pump
- Intercooler spray kit
- Exedy Sports Tuff Heavy Duty Clutch
- ECUtek software upgrade
- Deautswerks 1000cc side feed injectors
- Cobb short shifter
- GFB lightweight crank pulley
- E85 dynotuned @ 228kw

Cars on 160,000km atm so thinking in a couple years to do a full engine rebuild with an EJ257

Its on 19pounds so nothing excessive. Well the ecu and internals are really holding me back now.. the ecu in GC8s are so basic!

Its been a long time since I last run my GC8 at Calder but at the time with 170kw atw I did 13.3@105mph with a APS r spec kit with SR30 turbo running at 18psi. Back then I still had the factory 5 speed and best 60ft was 1.85.
