Cobb support for AUDM vehicles

Postby Jmac86 » Wed Jan 13, 2016 9:24 am

Looks like it's here!
http://www.cobbtuning.com/australian-subaru-support/

COBB is introducing the first ever non-USDM Subaru support for Australian Marked (ADM) Subarus. The Accessport, hard parts, and off the shelf maps are now available for the 2015+ WRX and 2015+ STI! Australian support will also include all of the latest features outlined in our recent Flex Fuel Announcement.

VEHICLE SUPPORT

2015 Subaru WRX STI Sedan MT ADM

2015 Subaru WRX Sedan MT ADM

2016 Subaru WRX STI Sedan MT ADM

2016 Subaru WRX Sedan MT ADM

SUBARU AUSTRALIAN ACCESSPORT V3 (AP3-AU-SUB-004)

The Accessport is the world’s best selling, most flexible, and easiest to use ECU upgrade solution for your Subaru. Unlock power hidden within the vehicle by replacing conservative factory settings with more aggressive calibrations. It’s the last engine management solution you’ll ever need. For more details about the Accessport, check out The COBB Way.

HARD PARTS AND OFF THE SHELF (OTS) MAPS

We’re continuing to test and confirm ADM hard part fitment on both the 2015-2016 WRX 6MT and the 2015-2016 STI. You can find which parts are already confirmed for each vehicle by visiting the 2015+ ADM WRX 6 MT product page or the 2015+ ADM STI product page. We expect the parts list to grow as testing continues.

There are also Off The Shelf map offerings for the Australian Market Subarus. Check out the Maps section of our website for more details. While it isn’t currently as extensive as the USDM line-up, we expect the map options to grow as research and development continues. If there is not currently an OTS map that fits your application, we have a large Protuner network that is able to create a custom tune for any level of modification.

Few of the American guys have had some issues with off the shelf tunes.
Some guy the other day blew the motor with very minor mods and his Cobb.
Think I'm going to wait a while to see how things go with reliability.
Hope it's the same as the 2.5's then I'll be very happy!

Always good to have more options and competition :) But Cobb's OTS tunes i don't trust at all. Even if it doesn't blow your engine, it will not be optimal. The AP is nice and flashy though, but its a $1000 gauge, data logger etc. hmmm

But the stock tune is not optimal either.
Once more local tuners become Cobb Protuners, gunna be amazing.
Ie can u imagine Shadow Tuned and the like performing his wizardry remotely from home instead of flying interstate?

I like to DIY a lot of things. So to be able to say, install a DP and load an OTS tune to safely drive to a workshop to get protuned would be awesome. Otherwise, I will be forced to have the tuners workshop install or get a tow

Still worth getting now as I don't see prices fluctuating... Unless there's more volatility in the exchange rates but I'm no financial guru...

I get what your saying, there are definitely benefits to the Cobb AP, but like you said uless the tune you upload is spot on, you will still need a dyno tune or proper road tune which is $$ on top of the Cobb AP purchase price. The aussie dollar has taken a dive as well so might be even more expensive soon hmmm

Someone please correct me if I am wrong...wouldn't be the 1st time
I was just having a look at the Cobb site.
Vehicle selection = 2015, Subaru, WRX & the options in the pic below are displayed.
Seems engine capacity is off to me. WRX Vs STi

Well I don't want to leave this thread in the state that is currently in.

As per my post in the MRT / EcuTek Flexfuel tune thread http://forum.wrx.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=81470&start=40 the last I'd heard of cobb AP support for AUDM vehicles was a thread from the mazda guys some years back.
http://forum.jdmstyletuning.com/showthread.php?40499-Cobb-AP-in-Australia

As per Jmacs86's subsequent reply & thread here it obviously worked out for them & it's now available for the late model AUDM rexies.

Agree OTS cobb ap tunes won't be optimal & in no way replace a pro tune but I agree with Tim in the respect that being able to fit your own dump pipe & know your car is safe until you can get a pro tune would be great.
These things do a whole lot more than just an ecu reflash too.

Yeah I've read of peoples cars blowing engines & bricked vehicles because maps only half load etc.
Not sure if this relates more to people going the whole US stage 1,2,3 thing with incompatible mods Vs maps in respect to blown engines. (or maybe the whole flat foot shift thing?)
In regard to map load screw ups may this relate to insufficient battery charge on the transfer device (I could brick my phone doing an update in the same way.

Jmac86 could you weigh in a lil' more if you have been chatting to cobb?

I'd certainly be interested in support for earlier model wrx's if it was available.
Very interested in what other members think of the device itself & how it's used in the US.

I currently have one on preorder through CMA that's due in a couple of weeks so I'll let you guys know how it goes. As far as I know, Cobb are using the late model WRX/STI's to gauge an interest in the Accessport and from there will make it available to previous gen models (assuming all goes well of course)

Ill be ordering one soon... cant wait.. Just want the ability to upgrade incrementally until power mods done, then custom tune it

Seems we are missing a few features though... for the AUSM, it says 'Flat foot shifting' and 'launch control' are STI only where the USDM verson gets them for the WRX

Anyone have any further updates on this?

For anyone interested we've actually been an COBB official dealer and Pro-Tuner for a little while now so please email us at sales@gotitrex.com or give us a call if you want more information (unfortunately COBB only support ADM MY15 WRX and STI onwards at this point in time).

Also I should mention that our MY15 WRX development car will very soon be getting a work out with the "off the shelf" tunes available so please keep an eye on our facebook and wrx club page for updates.

I finally got my accessport... my feelings / notes on Stage 1 OTS map are:

-much smoother when changing gear from 1st to 3rd (no rev hang and better throttle control)
-It dosnt say it in the map notes, but the throttle response has been fixed. There is actually a difference between 50% and 100% throttle now.
-When flooring it, the power holds throughout the rev band (prior, i felt that the power dropped off after about 4500rpm)
-It does feel a bit quicker, but cant be sure if it is or i just think it is.

I have ordered a Mishimoto CAI and Invidia TBE. Ill update when I run stage 2 OTS map. No plans to custom tune yet as I have a few more poser mods prior to custom tune.
