So it's been a while since I finished the interior. The cars been in a constant state of tidying up for the past couple of months.

Had a full respray done by a friendly club member. We originally planned to do the bars and hood, but ended up doing the whole car and colour coding over a period of several weeks. I'm currently battling O'Brien's glass over the quality of their windscreens, using non oe glass which does not line up the top oe mould properly leaving a 5mm gap.Image

Picked these up today, first time I've owned rays. Before any asks 'you sure they're real' ... Yes they're real. Picked them up relatively cheap, the finish is stuffed going in for a full refurb.

Only thing is I need to decide on the colour. Wheel finishing guys suggested sti gold is very thick, almost like a powder coat and recommended going the rays gold instead.ImageImage

Keep them an original Rays colour or you will devalue them if you decide to sell them in the future.

Yeh that's what I was thinking, rays gold ... Unfortunately there isn't any part of these rims to colour match the paint. I have stickers on their way from nengun ... Now to find some centre caps lol

Been horrified recently by the quotes to get an anodised set of wheels refinished. Prices ranged from $1400 to $2500. Seems nobody wants to touch anodised finishes because they need to be deanodised for paint to stick.

So I discovered this trick from a few forums and West coast customs and confirmed it works ... Easy off oven cleaner! The Red can, $3 from the supermarket. 3 cans did the trick and a couple of towels to wipe off and bam ... Back to metal and ready for paint. Hardest part was removing the stickers. Got it in to get professional refinished now at $800! ImageImageImageImageImage

Also got to finally clean the car after obreins took 3 weeks to change the windscreen properly, the guys in ringwood came round and sorted everything out. Note to self, don't use the obreins Brooklyn mobile service. Got to treat her to a sealant and quick detailer from angelwax. Not a bad looking gc8 now imoImageImage

That's exactly what I was thinking until I put the black stickers up against the gold ... It's is more understated and less common which is kinda what I'm after. Also blends better with the black wheel nuts (really don't want blue wheel nuts)
