My16 WRX

Postby nissansil80 » Tue Dec 15, 2015 5:40 pm

Howdy all. Names Russ!

I'll start off with a little story... TLDR located at bottom.

Weekend before last I was sent off on a mission to go and find myself a "sensible brand new car that can accommodate the needs of a growing family" - Missus. Having been a Nissan fanboy since I've been able to drive, I instantly went over to Nissan. Having found nothing there to be suitable apart from a $200,000 GTR, (probably not suitable but hey, a man can dream), I had no option other than be in a whole world of debt or to take my search elsewhere.
Long story short after many test drives and unhappy experiences i took my business to Glen Waverley Subaru where I fell in love with the WRX which seemed to tick all of the boxes, much to the displeasure of my partner who doesn't like the "hole in the bonnet".
After much persuasion I went back into the dealership while she was at work and put an order in for a premium version.

Have owned her a week, and although I do miss my RWD sheet, I reckon I'm in love.

TLDR; Nissan fanboy buys Subaru.

Current list;
STI Short Shifter
STI Front Lip
STI Skirts
STI Rear lip
Grid R 18 x 10 +30

Looking forward to meets and cruises and what not.

Welcome mate.
Very nice!
So I'm guessing you've had it week now & have hit the hills at least once???

What else did you test drive out of interest?

Just looking at your previous vehicle list.
I've always had kinda a thing for the 180sx with the sr20det, never owned one, but came very close...unfortunately kamikaze motors that used to be in Nunawading messed with it between inspections.

I may have gone once or twice.. ;)

I test drove the Focus, GTI and the Megane. However what I wanted to test the most was the Evo.. Didn't even get a chance since the salesman looked like he didn't even want to get up!

Hehe, yeah its a bit of a change from the previous list. I love my s13's and i'll probably end up buying a bomb to fix again in the not to distant future.

Well you are entitled to a complimentary 6 month membership with new vehicle purchase :) its definitely worthwhile as you receive 10% off servicing and parts.

Try go back to sales man and ask, alternatively if you have any issues email membership@wrx.com.au

Thanks,
Kurt

AWD in the twisties...yes yes yes
I can't go back now.
Not for my main ride anyhow...that said a nice drive in the forest with a feed n beer at the destination is all good no matter how I got there.
Upcoming Focus RS looks the goods, current offerings from Ford lack somewhat imo.
Seems all new cars look like lancers too...
Sounds like you still have the Nissan bug, maybe a track build?

I'm sure Kurt will make sure your 6 month free club membership getz sorted mate.
The dealerships have played this game before...

Thanks Kurt. Will see him for the one month check up anyway so i'll make sure I ask then.

I had a look at the RS. Looks like it'll be a great car. Since you mention lancers I should probably mention I daily one of those too. :p well.... until i sell it..

It will probably just be a little drift toy, if i can supply to funding.

I'll look into it.

At the moment my plans are to upgrade Wheels, suspension and perhaps a few more killwasps. I'll have to do more research considering i've never modded a wrx before so im unsure of what engine parts can handle what.

So the mod bug has bitten and I brought the Rotas which were on my last S13 back from Perth. Size is 18x10 + 30 so poke a little bit however that should be fixed up after I drop the coil overs in.. Pics to come later in the week. :)
