Leon, will we see you back at Sandown to beat your PB?

I agree with Kurt Leon, you should try and drop back down into Clubman, would be great competition :D

Here is a video of my 1:26:2 lap and also a 1:27:2. On my 1:26:2 I botched turn 11 which slowed me into 12 and 13, so some time to be gained there.

This is using iPhone 6, Harrys, Kiwi 3 OBD, GoPro Hereo4 and SkyPro GPS. I also filmed some using the iPhone, but video is terrible.

Kurt, I'll not be racing the next meet at Sandown. :( I have a triathlon the following weekend so playing it safe. I'll be there to spectate though and will bring my camera so the club will get some free pictures. Looking forward to SubiNats at PI though.

Zhi, have you done any videos recordings before? If not, happy to put my gear in your car so we can compare.

Hey Leon awesome video and very very interesting compared to mine! I didn't actually record any videos the last time out because i had a new tune in the car and between sessions we were touching up the tune getting rid of some gremlins etc and had no time to mount the camera.. But i have lots of other videos at different tracks so feel free to check em out, including one Winton test/tune day i did just after Sandown https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtrsHx ... 9LzHn77KAA.

Looking at your GoPro video i can see a few areas of difference already.

1) Your top speed is at least 12 km/h faster than me on main straight, i am only getting up to 200km/h before braking hard at 100m mark.

2) I am braking later than you on main straight and definitely on back straight and still i am slower which is quite surprising!!

3) Other than those 2 obvious areas you probably have better drive out of corners than mine being a 2.5litre so that helps you on the straights too.

In all slower corners i use 3rd gear, not sure if you do the same. The gear ratios in my car has a very short 2nd gear so i have no choice really.

I have a feeling the difference is largely down to the better drive out of the corners and top speed, Sandown being a horsepower track after all. But i am still very impressed by your laptime considering i am on r compound tyres. How much camber do you run?

OK, SubiNats mods time*....
1) PWR 55mm radiator. Keep the thing cool. It is a monster!
2) Z221 tyres. I'm joining the R spec tyre brigade.

* plus some other minor mods that I'll reveal on the day ;-)

I was at SubiNats and managed a 1:51:9 on the new TD R spec tyres.

Whilst I was very happy with the day's results, I was really only just learning what is possible with R spec tyres. The Vbox data shows I did not stay on throttle for long enough, broke too early, rolled off throttle at the wrong times and generally did not pull together a good lap all day. Although, I did manage 1.5 G on Lukey Heights.

All part of the fun and looking forward to Winton. I'll probably add caster, install the crossmember mount bushings and add another 1 degree of camber.

Well done Leon, was great to meet you too :) I had a bit of a shocker, so will need to investigate what the issue was at Subinats. End of day could only get my time down to 1:54.4 which is still a second off my PB at start of year. Its only my 2nd time at PI as well so could well be my driving, its quite an intimidating track and if you don't have confidence in your car its easy to lose a lot of time in such a high speed circuit. I didn't feel anywhere as comfortable as the first time i was there on brand new Z221. Maybe my Z221 are just falling off the edge now, has about 30 heat cycles (6 track days) on them now. I will try my hardest to keep up with you at Winton though haha.
