Haha seems like a common problem.

So this was my budget...

Mechanical tidy up and rwc $4k
Body work $7k
Wheels & tyres $2k

Sorted.

Plan went to crap at the first stage ... So far $6k over budget

New boots today courtesy of traction tyres. Was leaning towards a street tyres, but decided to get something I can take to the track.

Also continued detailing the interior. Boot copped a cleaning, all carpets and seats shampooed. The smell of old cigarettes is almost gone. Need an AC deoderiser and I think I'm nearing done for the cleaning, then onto restoring a few bits.

I did discover the spare wheel retainer had rusted through. Now the spare is bouncing around in the back over bumps. Any ideas how to fix?

I've been running these on my pug for 12months as a daily, love them!

They're just as easy to live with as most other high performance street tyre but can hold up to track duties much better. The carcass is really really stiff as are the sidewalls. I can compare them to the following which I've used in the past:

Michelin PS3
Continental SC5
Continental SC5P
Continental SC3
Bridgestone RE002
Kuhmo KU21
Good Year Eagle F1 Directional 5
Sumitomo HTR Z3
Toyo Proxes 4
Yokohama V105
Pirelli P Zero Nero
Falken ZE912
Yokohama A-drive
Yokohama ES100
Random cheap chinese crap

Of those tyres, only the Michelin and Continental are worthy tyres imo, the rest fail in one way or another. I find the AD08r about as harsh on the road as the v105 or Conti SC5, slightly louder but with much better turn in and holding power through sweeping corners. They also have heaps better feedback.

I'd rate the PS3 as a more comfortable tyre and probably better suited to spirited street driving than the ad08r. They're normally pretty well priced too. It has softer sidewalls though and that much is evident when attacking a corner. Really keen to try the PS4 which is what I almost bought.

The AD08r get a little louder as they wear but not excessive, especially in a gc8 which is already super noisey, who cares about road noise. Once warm they grip like mad (they're not terrible cold either), don't do too bad in the rain, heaps of feedback, nice looking sidewall and that tread pattern is awesome. They are heavy though, about 1kg heavier than the Michelin per corner if that works you, and are a little pricey.

Spare itself is fine, it's the retainer that's completely rusted through and torn off. Thankfully it hasn't rusted through the boot. I hit the leftover bits with rust converter, and sprayed over it to stop it rusting further.

Rear sti seats will require some massaging to fit flush with the rear parcel shelf. I bent the brackets upwards by about a 5cm to get it flush. You'll also have a gap near the wheel arch, still trying to work out how to cover that up

Seats fit perfect. Meet parcel shelf like stock. Side bolsters are also perfectImage

Ah my bad thought you meant gd sti seats. To be honest I prefer the GC rear seats like those, if only I could find a set in blue.

Yeah, long term plan, go to trimmers and tidy up seats and door trims.

Good luck finding door cards in good or great cond. Mine is pretty good although drivers is wearing as they all eventually do. Be nice to hear if anyone here knows a trimmer who has done gc8 door cards. What they turned out like.
