JDM ej207 EFR 6758 .82

Postby Kangaroowrx » Fri Aug 25, 2017 8:53 pm

Finally finished off my ej swap today with a tune from chequered tuning Trent was awesome to speak to about the car and it runs like its a stock rex till you put your foot down, drives amazing compared to the last tune it had on the old motor!... when asked how much boost i wanted to run i opted for 21psi and tuned with safety as number 1 priority.. not really sure exactly how safe 21psi is on a 04 jdm 207 (hypershit pistons) ?.
But it definitely held up to a beating today and Im pretty happy with the results, could maybe go a .62 housing in the future but the .82 is what it came with and i was leaning more towards the idea that it would make a little more on a little less psi ???. if i do go .62 ill be doing an external gate but for now it pulls great and Im stoked with the setup definitely want to enjoy it for a while and build the motor later.. on my terms! not on the pistons and head studs terms.
you feel it really start to pick up at 3500 and is at full boost before you know it (4200)

Hey mate,

welcome to the hypercast JDM gang :p

I'm still running a version 10 JDM long motor (completely standard/unopened).
Was pushing 22/24psi through a blouch dom 2.5 for a few motorsport events (road tuned, so assuming around 300kW on 24psi).

Just changed the set up prior to SubiNats to a EFR7163 and its currently running 22psi and around 270kW tuned by Got It Rex.

Personally, i think the heads lifting is more of a risk than the pistons.

Awesome !! thats really good to know.. So Im right on the money for reliability and i guess with some room to push it if i get bored later, if i was going to push another 1 or 2 psi into it she would still be safe but arp studs and some good gaskets will be done before i go there.. i dont plan on making 300 on stock jdm hypercast pistons but good to know people have... 270 that sounds like a nice number to me haha.. you have graphs for the 7163 ?? what size housing did you go and when dose it come on ??

I was under the impression hypercast aren't weak its the size of the ring land on the 2.5 litre that give them a bad rep

Hey Mate,

No graph - sorry. I have the .85AR.
Feels as responsive as my previous DOM 2.5 XTR 8cm2

Full boost around 4000 in 4th?

I reckon the 7163 has better transient response than my old dom 2.5, but mines was older than yours kurt so maybe different ?

anyway.. hi to another ej207 bloke.

Mine's built though :P
