The upside though is that it shouldn't be sucking hot air at immediate take-off or very low speeds (like dribbling along in peak hour parking traffic). Reality is, once the car is moving, the engine bay air will be replenished cooler air from the front of the car.

I will do the same thing when I get around to it!
Steve at AVO, said my tune wouldn't alter if I put my pod in a box. So I guess there will not be a restriction
Will be making a carbon fibre unit when I get the time

If I know Steve, he probably also said "Don't waste your time, the hot air isn't an issue" ;)

GREAT DIY.... but

I tackled this today, but failed :(
i bought the 90mm pvc but after i took the flange out of my airbox my hole was only 70mm so i have to go get some more piping soon.

then when i put it all back together i didnt follow fisher instructions properly :chair:
Fisher wrote:Note to self: remember to plug in AFM cables etc in after use...*Puts in reverse* "oh hey the check engine light is on..wtf...*splutter sounds*" etc

and then when i was putting it all back together... i broked something? i dunno what it is? help?
can you see that bit that pup with the oil on it that goes to the box thing. well it joins that and then runs up into the bottom of what i believe is my boost solanoid. but now i broke that bit of the box. you can see that its doesnt look connected...
what is it?
how important etc.?

not sure what that connection is, I only took the top off the airbox to do the whole exercise so never got to that part of the engine bay. btw, that metal bit looks like a brace and that's about it. Just to stop wobbling around no doubt.

So long as all the pipes can still plug back in then there'll be no air leaks and it'll start and run fine.

Do these fit the GC8's as well? And do you reckon I could just order one through Subaru Parts or are they an american item? I need one ASAP.
