Late Model Belt Cover On Gc8

Postby Lupin » Sat Dec 22, 2012 7:25 am

Had a few people ask how I fitted the late model belt cover on my GC8.

So here's a nice simple DIY.
Parts needed.

Late model belt cover.

Steel to make a bracket.

Tools needed.

Something to cut it.

Spanners and stuff.

Step 1.

Remove old belt covers. Throw them in the corner as you don't need them.
You could use the steel one to make a bracket if your desperate.

Step 2.

Put on new belt cover. Realize it doesn't fit as it wont clear the power steering reservoir.

Step 3.

Remove belt cover and cut here. You only need to cut enough to clear the reservoir. The hacksaw and file were my weapons of choice here.

Step 4.

Remove boss of the back here. You do need to leave a small amounthere. I actually cut too much off andhad to space it up slightly to get it level.

Step 5.

Make a small bracket to come off the powersteering pump.

Don't need anything fancy here. Just a simple bracket with a means ofattaching the belt cover. I had nutserts at my disposal so I used them. Youcould either weld a nut or get a speed nut to suit.

Step 6.

Fit new belt cover and enjoy.

Thank you for the tutorial. I snapped up a new belt cover for 25 shipped and fitted it in about 20 minutes. It made such a massive difference to the overall look. I love it definitely a worth while mod :)
