I would of been in sprint, but my car will be way to loud for this 75db day.. I'm not even going to bother wasting my money, fitting a quite exhaust and retuning. I'll wait till next round.

Looking forward to coming down. And good weather.
Any guesses how quick an MX5 with a stock 1.8 MX5 motor and stock MX5 SE turbo, manifold and down pipe is going to be?
My guess is about a 1:44.

It has about 180 kw's on an optimistic dyno. Weighs right around 1100kg's with me in it.

Where is the build thread for this MX5?

Hello All,

We have released another version of the calculator which predominantly changes the UI to make it a little clearer and easier to the end user entering the information in.

For example, in some of the areas we have received questions about clarification via email we have decided to put a little tool tip next to each item (i.e. what defines an alternative subaru engine or what are aftermarket brakes).

We have also included a "points until next class" as this was another comment that people weren't sure how many more modifications they could make to remain in the class.

There has been two other changes to the sheet, which define the way aero was categorised. Previously it was all lumped together, however we have split this in to 4 sections to give competitors a little more resolution as to what Aero is and not coping full points for having an aftermarket Wing only (as an example.

The other being the points for Slick tyres have been amended - they still push you automatically into open class - but they don't yield a massive point penalty which may skew the points when comparing to other open class cars.

Thanks,
Kurt

Can you fix the issue of Sprint cars being faster than Super Sprint car.

That doesn't seem right

I think the Motorsport team are reviewing s202 wings which may resolve that issue

Anything that reduces grey area is good, although I have a few questions: hmmm

How would you classify an EJ207 replacing an EJ20 with the original heads then? Previously I would have said ‘Alternative’ but these rules could be interpreted as ‘Modified’ unless the heads are also replaced due to them now being a mix? I don’t think that was the intention though and was more aimed at people changing/upgrading/modding heads?

Are you saying that any change to the Rear Spoiler that is non-OEM (eg STI wing on WRX) is ‘replica Subaru’?

How will you deal with cars that might change classes due to the modification to the rules (which is not really the same as the owner changing their car)?

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your questions. That was always the intention of our alternative subaru section, however in a situation like that we would most likely grant dispensation for. For example an ej207 with aftermarket head studs would he capable of more power than one without. There is always room for us to assess each situation however.

This is the same with the turbo section. Someone with a vf34 can get alternative Subaru points, but a modified vf34 (eg billet wheels, modified/larger exhaust housing) should not be classified in the same manner.
The classification for aero again has not changed.

Anything OEM or OEM replica is fine and incurs no points regardless of car (e.g. Sti wing on wrx) At the moment someone running a apr gt wing for example would have previously incurred a full 80 points for aero which is the same as someone running full aero, we wanted to break this up to make it a little fairer and whilst it doesnt really affect any of our competitors we were more looking forward for subinats.

These changes will not incur any class changes for any competitor (that I am aware of) and should not penalise any prospective competitor. The only outcome is a potential saving of points for some open class competitors.

Thanks,
Kurt

Hey Kurt,

Regarding Subinats, will that weekend run in our class categories? Ie all interstate competitors will need to enter their cars into our calculator and will be classed accordingly?

Hi Kyle,
This is correct.

The round will also serve as championship points for victorian members. I.e. Lets say you placed third overall in sprint class on the day behind two NSW competitors.
You would receive a third place trophy on the day for the event, but as you placed first out of all victorian competitors in class you would receive points for first place in the 2016 championship.

Thanks,
Kurt

Nice.

The way the NSW classes worked, when I went up a couple of years ago, particularly regarding Rspecs was less than ideal for most Vic entrants.

Round 4 has been announced, and will be hosted at Sandown on the 4th of June.

yes - that makes 2 Sandown's in a row, which is a little unfortunate. But Sandown is a great track and nice and close :D!
