World Time Attack - well done Kurt and Jarrod

Postby ls0775 » Sun Oct 16, 2016 4:19 pm

WTAC 2016 is over and I for one was watching the live feed.

Well done to Kurt and Jarrod for representing VIC and both getting below 1:50.

Thanks Leon!

Caught up with your brother there and a few of the NSW WRX guys which was good :)

First time at the event for both myself & Jarrod.

Unfortunately, Jarrod snapped his Dry sump pulley first session of the Practise day (Thursday, un-timed) which meant his was out of action until the end of Friday. Once that was rectified, we also had to fabricate an Enclosure to provide driver protection from his dry-sump tank in the back of the car. (Spadam did an awesome job on this with a pair of tin-snips, 0.5mm thick aluminium sheet and tek screws! LOL).

After all this was sorted, he still experiencing significant cooling issues which meant he really couldn't put down a proper lap. and i think literally only got one timed hot-lap in all weekend!

I also had a few issues also - one being a non-compliant harness which means i missed most of Fridays run-time by the time i sorted and installed a new one. Out of the remaining sessions i had, 2 (maybe 3?) were red flagged and called off. I also drove fairly poorly :P

SMSP is an awesome track however, issues aside really enjoyed the event and being part of something to that scale.

Did Jarrod find his UTC in the end?

Yeah, Tu called me, and I called one of the guys that was up there. Tu thought that he had an M1 in the car though, not an M800 Plug in.

@Kurt sounds like a tough day at the office.

Shame about Jarrod's car having issues. Will be great to see it running properly.

My brother has lots of pictures from Friday. I'll get a link and share. I was going to come up but had the Melb Marathon on so missed it. Definitely looked bigger that last year.

Does a 33rd place deserve a well done?
