Compared to other types of turbos the ball bearing turbos do have a bit of shaft play, as long as it's only a mm or so it's normal.

Hi Steve,
Just wondering what is the diference between the AVO 450 and AVO 450s :? Would the AVO 450 be an overkill for an MY07 with stock internals :?

They are a different core, I would go the 450s for your car, similar top end to the 450 but much better response.

There are a few on the dyno yes, however I'm only working from home these days and dont have the dyno files here yet. Best to email Lee on lee@avoturbo.com and ask for charts that way until I can get something sorted here.

We don't sell too many 320hp turbos these days as the 400s spools almost as well but has far superior top end and the VF34 is very close to the 320hp and can generally be bought for less.

HI Hasti,

The 450hp isn't my favorite turbo of the bunch, I would HIGHLY recommend you go for the 450s unless you have done every possible flow mod to help the 450hp out.

A stock MY97 engine I wouldn't push much past 200kw atw, maybe less depending on how the engine sounds, a 400s might have been a better choice, particularly if you're sticking to a tmic. On a good setup the 400L will easily make 260kw, sometimes more.

Hey steve thanks i spoke to Lee today and am looking at a 400s now. He showed me some charts of a 400s vs a vf34. For every one else the 400s hits peak boost later than a 34 (approx 300rpm) but makes more power down low (and right across the rev range) than a 34. The 34 has to run more boost to make less power (top end) than the 400s. It helps to see the dyno charts of each but it just confirms what people have been saying about the 400s. Only thing left to do now is to get AVO to lower the price and it would be the turbo to get lol

Hi Matt,

The best thing to do in that situation is to try and get a drive in a well sorted car that runs the turbos you're interested in.

Hi Steve,

Quick question for you, as you suggested I wish to get an EBC with the 30kw package. I have read that you supply that as an option to any package. Which EBC do you offer and what would be the additional cost of supply and installation?

For the Subarus we usually use either an AVC-R or an EBoost2, fitting and setting up on the dyno usually runsa around $231. I would have to check current pricing for supply but it is likely you can buy then cheaper (ebay etc) than I can from the supplier.
