Can a WRX actually run on LPG.
If so i might be keen when petrol prices got over 160c agains.

I know Subaru mantains boxers + LPG = disaster. But thans all manufacturers say that.

The JTG Liquid Kit was very surprising as to how well it did work and there was the added bonus of making more power and torque. The price of the kit is not cheap but if you plan on keeping the car for longer than 18 months then you will make the initial layout back then saving upto $1.00 per litre. I have a kit on my VE SSV Ute and it is great filling the vehicle up for $40.00 and getting 420 kilometres per tank.

The liquid gas kit would be $4750.00, supplied and fitted. There is currently a $1750.00 gas rebate still available from the government.

The only issue may be that if there is major on the vehicle modifications then a ECU retune would be required and that would be extra.

i thought a retune would be automatically be required.
Is it dedicated LPG or will my 01sti ecu need to run dual maps (if it can)

if the vehicle is standard or virtually standard then it will not need to be tuned as the gas injectors mimic the factory fuel injectors. For modified situations, you will probably need a Link ECU with a dual map setup.

AVO Turboworld is a certified LPG installation facility and tuner. We have had tremendous success with all our installations and conversions to many Ford, Holden and Subaru models.

Why AVO uses Liquid Gas Injection System

When LPG is used to fuel internal combustion engines, it is often referred to as autogas or auto propane. In some countries, it has been used since the 1940s as a petrol alternative for spark ignition engines. Its advantage is that it is non-toxic, non-corrosive and free of tetra-ethyl lead or any additives, and it burns more cleanly than petrol. And if you are interested in more performance from your vehicle, it's high octane rating (108 RON) is especially attractive. The advantage of the AVO system is the option of our dual-fuel tuning, which optimizes performance. Our professional tuners will create the optimal map specifically tuned for your car on our high-tech in-house dyno.

The JTG Liquid Injection System

The JTG Liquid injection System is a premium product that delivers excellent drivability and performance above vapour injection and traditional venture systems. The reason why the JTG Liquid injection system delivers better drivability and performance is due to the system injecting liquid LPG into the inlet manifold port next to the petrol injector. By doing this the liquid LPG vapourises in the inlet manifold and lowers the inlet air temperature. This provides a more dense air/fuel mixture which fills the combustion chamber more completely (increasing the engines volumetric efficiency).

The system advantages are as follows:

More power than running on petrol
Higher mid range torque than petrol
Approximately 10% improvement on fuel consumption when compared to vapour injection systems
Less intrusive fitment to vehicle (no water hose connections)
Lower combustion temperatures than other gas systems (protecting engine durability)
Large benefits for turbo or supercharged applications
Injects LPG vapour next to petrol injector – no backfire possible unlike venturi system

Exhaust gas emission testing has proven that LPG powered vehicles emit up to 10% lower CO2 (Green house gas) emissions.

Exhaust Gas Emission Milestones
1. Euro 2 compliant kits (vehicles from 2002 to 2005)
2. Euro 3 compliant kits (vehicles from 2005 to 2010)
3. Euro 4 compliant kits (vehicles from 2006 to 2010)
4. First company to certify Liquid Injection LPG kits to emission requirements of AS/NZ-1425

Hi LPG,

We have just recently completed a liquid injection installation on a Forester 06 2.5L Turbo Model. The installation worked well and made over 10% increase in power.

Let me know if you can help you with anything else.

Regards,

Gday

Thanks for that. I have had my installer and Australian Gas Warehouse look at it with no success so I was wondering if there are any comon faults with the ICOM JTG system. I have spoken to one supplier that has stopped installing them due to faults that couldnt be fixed but I havnt been able to hear from anyone who actually had the problems which is why I posted this message. My problem is basically stalling or very rough conversion when hot.

Hi Alex,

If you are talking about the blue line of the gas setup, about .84 to .88 lambda. It is conservative but not over the top rich. This is the standard kit without tuning. With tuning it could be trimmed more.

Hi Lee

what has happened to my quote? Been waiting since September?

Some questions:
1) does LPG has any negative effects on the valves, as some say it is a drier fuel and does not lubricate as well as petrol?
2) how much added weight is the setup.
3) with the added weight and extra power, what is the effect on the 0-100km/h figure
4) how is the balance of the car affected, especialy on track days?

Regards
Albert
