Removal

Postby pmonte » Sun Jul 16, 2006 2:02 pm

Here's a question for you, if there is tint on the windows already. Is it better to remove the tint and add a darker tint or add a second lighter tint on top of the one already there?

My brother has the "blue rinse" tint on his excel and i tell him that he should get rid of it. Just trying to find the best option!!!

Thanx!

Hi,
If you install a new film over one already there of questionable pedigree, then that's a wrong move.
Remove the old and install to the legal max with a film that allows 35% light transmission.

Not sure what a "blue rinse' is but it sounds horrible.

It's a really bad tint job, ( by a pro!! ) and the tint colour looks blue!!!

Plus it has heaps of scratches on the tint as well!!!

Just after a quote for an '04 WRX Hatch, darkest legal, with a slightly silver film if possible?

Cheers,

I do for commercial and domestic flat glass installations but not automotive as I prefer it do be done in my workshop where I can control the tinting environment.

Hi Rob,

What do you think of SunGard films in terms of quality and durability (e.g. Desert Smoke)?

I've had excellent experience with Madico's Charcool but can't get it here in Perth :(

Sungard USA went into liquidation this year and it was the best thing IMHO for the industry.
That make of film was crap with film failures all around the world including with me to a small extent.

The disgarded backing sheet on the floor had more value. :x

If you want the Madico, let me know and I'll can send it over to you for an installer to fit up.
Regards.

You're right, they've gone into liquidation.

I just had a chat with the tinter here and he doesn't do SunGard anymore, now he uses SolarGard. What are your thoughts on SolarGard?

I'm thinking of doing the HP-30.

It's OK but make sure it is AM radio reception friendly version.

Good factory backing behind this manufacturer and generally quite a good product.

Hi Rob,

Thinking of getting my GC8 Sedan re-tinted as the driver's window is starting to peel at a corner (don't think it could be matched as i think it was done a decent time ago)

I'm after the usual darkest tint, i've seen you've listed a few various types/brands - do you have a few photo's comparing looks? What would you recommend for a bright red duco?

If could please provide a quote for re-tint too.

Whatever price you get quoted make sure you get a discount if you help strip the tint. I helped get mine off and got no discount. Dont know why I bothered

Hi,
You can use the Madico Onyx metalised film for that model which would look just fine.
(Have a look at my daughter's new Mazda 2 Genki in my gallery page of my website www.cartint.net.au)
It will give you a black look externally that is not reflective.
Regards,
Rob.

Hi Rob,

Just after a quote for a MY09 WRX sedan.
Is it posible to get front and front sides to match the factory privacy rear and rear sides.

The 2 front doors are worth $130.00 at member cost and no film can match the tone and hue of the OE rear glass.
Even if it could, the darkness level would be illegal for the front.

Rob.
