Would just like to know how everyone has gone with their tinting, any cracking or shattered roofs??? I've been told by numerous sources that they cant be tinted - by what i've just read here they obviously can but i just wanted to know how safe it is, if there is still a risk of the glass breaking or if it has happened to anyone?

Never heard of it myself, maybe that's for sunroofs tinted with film meant for side windows? From what Rob says the film he uses is designed for sunroofs, so can take the thermal changes. Maybe normal films expand and contract too much with high heat you get facing straight up for a prolonged time, and that breaks the glass?

I know the stuff Rob used on my Nissan has been perfect. Others have had it longer than me, and on larger areas (liberty glass roofs) and I've never heard of any problems.
Will.

...but.......but......what if Google is wrong?

My Liberty Wagon has a largish sunroof and it's fine.

Foresters with their VERY large sunroofs have had a few crack/break, but not by Rob.

Simple answer - get Rob to do it ...

Les.

A knife in the wrong hands with too much pressure can score the glass and weaken it causing a flaw.
Marry that to wrong film and its correspnding specifications that overload the glass's ability to absorb infrared and you might have a problem.

Clowns should stay in the circus and not tint car windows.

Rob tinted my sunroof in late 2001 (probably with a different film to the one mentioned in this thread) and it's still fine.

I just did a 100 series landcruiser roof today plus his normal tint for the sides and rear and he came all the way up from Phillip Is.
He was rapt with the result and couldn't believe it could make that much difference.

You still got that car Steve? Wow.

Yep. I've had it for almost 10 years now so it's getting on a bit but it still runs OK.

Trust me, you won't regret it.

When its a hot/sunny day I used to close the sunblind as too much sun/heat comes through, not today and not anymore.

Its bloody awesome, as you can see i'm a happy customer.. :cheer:
