Matts 91 RS liberty (little frankie)

Postby Matt » Sat Jun 13, 2015 12:12 pm

Hi guys!

Long time listener to the wealth of knowledge on RSLC and i thought it was about time i put up a thread showing my newish pride and joy.

This is my second subaru, and second conversion lol...im a sucker for punishment!! Previous car is now the car my mate Grant owns.....gen3 liberty with v8 sti conversion and tonnes of other bits, i still really miss that car :( Al at amauto and Michael South did all the hard work on that one with my money....but this RS has always had the intention to be a learning car and aside from the actual engine build i have done everything myself in my garage.

lots of research and info from the suby community who are the greatest of mates.....i went from someone who couldnt change a set of brake pads...to someone whos not stressed about tearing a motor out, i have learnt so much and want to thank anyone whos answered a question, supplied a part, assisted with their two hands, trailers or supervision and my missus for dealing with two years of this sheet lol

So anyways..obviously she is an Oz spec RS liberty (late 91) and has gone through a complete transformation twice now

I got her as a mistreated old girl, bit rough but good mods..just carried out very dodgy lol

It had a 95 wrx motor, with a fmic, vf34, hks coilovers, way too big rims, gd wrx seats etc etc......i initially pulled it all apart and cleaned it up to be fairly tidy and just drive it till it went bang

But a few weeks later a mate offered me a freshly rebuilt motor from his written off bugeye wrx wagon.....so after aqquiring the halfcut the fun began

and of course along the way bits like a 6 speed, brembos etc etc presented themselves and got added to the old girl to make her finally become possibly the most fun subaru ive ever driven and owned......yep...this things hauls arse and has zero lag :)

A more thorough build thread can be found over on subyclub, this highlights every step ive take with the car from pickup to how she is today, and all the bits to come

http://www.subyclub.com/topic/7692-matts-91-rs-liberty-little-franky-bringing-retro-back-in-to-fashion/?p=362328

The following modification list is how she stands today, im sure ive missed a few things along the way. But i will update it as i remember it all lol

Cheers mate! She has come such a long way....and i still have a huge list of stuff i wanna tidy up

Whole intention was to build a fun and reliable weekend car to do hillclimbs, track days and general run a muck stuff...but it has been taken over by my OCD lol
