XT Forester Vs VW Tiguan

Hey all looking at purchasing a new car for the wife and we are pretty keen on either the XT or the diesel Tiguan , if anyone has any opinions on the two cars your input would be great, Im a rex driver and love my subies but the build quality is sometimes lacking.

Im pretty sure there was a write up in MOTOR a few issues back comparing the Tiguan to the Forester, although I think they used the S-Edition Foz.

+1 for the Forester, even if its only in XT guise.

Run fast from the DSG Tiguan - if you work hard for your money!
VW's Dealer network is as skilled as a a sweat shop run by Julia Gillard.

Stick with the Foz. VW has it's own quality issues with gearbox and injectors for which they seem to be in denial. Soon as something goes wrong they blame the owner and dont want to know you. Also if you think Subaru service costs are high check out VW costs, you may want to sit down.

The Tiguan is built on the Golf platform, whereas the Forester is a dedicated car these days...

the Forester Diesel is a very impressive vehicle... would highly recommend checking it out...

Unless you are a German mechanical and electrical engineer I would definitely go for the Foz..

Fogot all about this post, finished up getting a new 2.0D Premium and the misses couldnt be happier thus leading to my happyness hahahahaha. Thanks for the advice guys.
