Re: Built 2.2l - New even LOWER price .....

Postby Mr_188 » Fri Mar 10, 2017 3:16 pm

I'm just wondering, why is this worth so much?
I mean, i can get a rebuild for that amount, so what's the benefits of this compared to me going to get a rebuild?
I can send my motor to Rising Sun and pay a little more and make 300 kw.
Just trying to see why this is worth so much, that's all.

Hello All
Ryano, many thanks for your supportive post

Mr188
2.2l closed deck blocks are the strongest std Subaru blocks out there, and are increasingly rare. That is certainly one consideration in my pricing. I had to source this block from the UK, but that was my choice.

I have long believed that when u sell 2nd hand, you need to be realistic in your pricing, and I have taken several opinions from people in the trade around what my engine is worth.
At the end of the day, the market will decide, but the rule of thumb the trade has given me is 1/3rd of build cost, when applied to my engine.

So at $25k+ build cost, and that was at a higher exchange rate than what we have now, then my current pricing is, I believe, reasonable.
If it is to steep for your circumstances, then thats ok, you pays your money, you takes your choice, and this engine is not for you. No Probs

Cheers
Nick

reasonable price IMO.

First off, 2.2 is the unicorn of bottom ends.

Secondly, its brand new and is a FULL long (not just rebuilding your short motor).

Ej22 is indeed an epic motor. A motor I'd love to own one day.

Are you putting people off with the power figure there? People are now pretty aware that a stock 207 with cruddy heads will pull that figure around 23-24psi and be happy about it forever (with supporting mods of course) that's a $4k build (max) which is half the price. I just feel that perhaps a little more information around how this thing will drive/torque etc compared to a half price setup would assist you.
GLWS but.

Appreciate the feedback Josh
Dyno sheets are available, MSR builds his engines for torque, and this pulls hard early
And being a 2.2 it is also safe for 8000rpm.....
