2014 MY15 Installation of Kenwood aftermarket DVD DDIN player Help

Postby GORREALA » Sat Sep 09, 2017 11:18 am

Ok this install has been happening for a month now trying to gather information on what harnesses I need for the install now I have a 2014 MY15 and just being sold Aerpro Harnesses APP090 after trying to install realizing they will not fit my cars harness.

So I got a refund and im back searching again now each video I have watched on youtube they use all different harnesses som even use a Toyota Harness from what I hav read I need a Steering wheel control harness and a Attena adaptor and T harness but after checking my antenna is already the round style so don't think I need it I want to be able to retain my Steering wheel volume and answer stereo controls and standard Bluetooth Mic but im wondering if its going to be worth it.

This is the 1st car I have ever bought harnesses for every other car I have just chopped spliced soldered my systems in but I want the install to be neat and clean.
My WRX 2014 MY15 came with the Clarion Deck CV229KM which in my opinion is crap just looks old as sheet and the Bluetooth connectivity is next to useless.

can some one help me with what harnesses to get as I don't want 2 keep wasting money on wrong parts and then getting refunds.

ive been lead to believe this is the parts I need.

Looks like your on the right track mate.
APP091 & CHSU3C (the steering wheel control harnesses aren't cheap)
Plus Kenwood secondary harness
Which Model Kenwood HU do you have?
The Kenwood HU will have configuration settings to setup your steering controls how you like.
They are also usually ok to just ground the park brake sensor wire so the dvd works while on the move without the need to trick up a relay.
Retaining the stock bluetooth mic...don't know.
Do you have a factory reverse cam?

I bought a Kenwood DDX4017BT
http://www.kenwood.com/au/car/visual_na ... ddx4017bt/
I was quoted by Autobarn $112 for CHSU3C
and about $20 for the APP091 Harness from the Subaru-ISO to ISO-Kenwood deck.
Its no Biggie about the Bluetooth it was just a matter of trying to use all the factory Mic if I cant I will just use the kenwood mic that comes with the deck but I do want to use Steering wheel controls answer/hangup and volume and I want my factory USB location retained.

I do have a reverse camera but that uses the screen that is up top next to my AC display so it has its own display I will just leave it that way.

well that page is really helpful I was wondering why the hell they would give you that earphone jack looking lead and yet still have to buy more well I will give this a try I should be able to just slide the wires in and tape them up tight not having to cut anything.

Thanks heaps I will try this next weekend all I need now is the harnesses from the stock system to the kenwood harness to deck.

Use pin connectors, vampire clips/line taps, crimp lugs or something else suitable for your setup mate.
