No keys for 1999 WRX, can we start it?

Postby JankyMelon » Mon Dec 14, 2015 11:31 pm

Hey very new here literally today my friends and I have aquired our first project car a 1999 Impreza wrx. It came covered completely in plastidip like windows, tyres, door jams the lot. Unfortunately it came with no keys and being a subaru came with a factory immobilizer. We have a trained mechanic and auto electrician in our families so knowledge isn't an issue. We have a plan to attempt to bypass it but is there anyone else who knows a process to start or get keys made for the car rather than us going trial and error. We have the stock ecu but the wiring is stuffed since the previous owner had a piggyback plug n play ecu.

If its going to be a racecar rip the ignition out and by pass everything.

If you want to have a key just take it to a locksmith, get a key cut and bypass the immobilizer. Assuming the immobilizer still works.

Thanks for the reply, we were thinking making it a stop start button sort of setup but weren't exactly sure how to bypass the immobilizer.
