Have a MY05 & the power steering pump has finally packed it in after 12 months of whining. Been given replacement prices of around $800 2nd hand & upwards of $2k new, does anyone have any recommendations on a cheaper reliable source?
I am located in Brisbane but happy to ship.

Just had the pump on my 04 Foz recod by my mechanic for around $300. Someone up there is having a lend of you I think.

I got my pump rebuilt. Least it has a 2 yr warranty where as a 2nd one will have limited warranty if there is one at all.

I thought they cant be rebuild as they tend to leak air.

Nah they can be rebuilt. Those who don't have expirence won't touch them because when you open them up? Stuff jumps all over the place. Lucky I was able to do some research and found a place that specialises in pump rebuilds and did mine for under $300 which was drive in and out price.

Ended up getting the pump rebuilt by Warwick at Ultimate Power Steering in Brendale QLD after a recommendation from Russell at Subievolution.
$400 fitted, couldn't be happier with the quality, attention to detail & the service.

Unless your confident to give it a crack yourself. I was lucky the one on my GC8 wasn't quite whining yet, just pissing fluid everywhere.
A couple of dollars for seals from Subaru and problem fixed.

Yep its common on the 03-05 GDA's. But yes the pumps can be rebuilt some places do a swap over for your old one.

yeah mine did the whine then was fixed now its pissing ,
