Postby L1TEW8 » Thu Dec 30, 2010 8:38 am

Hi Sime,

Are you able to paint a wrx inlet manifold?
I am hoping to paint mine STI red but am not sure if it can be done?

It sure can be done, but it is a "wrinkle" paint that basically shrinks when it dries to give the wrinkle effect. I know you can buy a very similar colour in a spray pack can (VHT SP204 red wrinkle), but hopefully Sime can figure it out for you.

Sorry for the delay....was distracted by my vacation!! 8)

The VHT red wrinkle is very good, but a 1K paint so not overly durable. You can get a red wrinkle powdercoat from America, but not here.

If you have your manifold media blasted to remove the old paint, you will need an etch primer first, then a normal primer then paint.

Cheers,
Sime

Sure.....as long as you want me to strip it and paint it in 1K wrinkle. I don't powdercoat.

Are you removing the manifold and giving it to me stripped of all parts?

PS> About to jump on a flight so I won't be back online for about 24hrs.
