Porsche 911 bare metal respray

Postby Sime » Thu Dec 15, 2011 10:21 am

Here’s a bare metal respray we recently completed on an Australian-delivered 1978 Porsche 911 SC. The car was pretty straight and required only a few body repairs requiring filler, but for some reason the previous repairer had highfilled practically the whole car and in many areas, the primer was lifting/bubbling under the base coat….hence the necessity for the paint stripping. Man, was that fun.....not!

The car was painted in PPG Deltron 2K and finished in D800 clearcoat. It was then completely wet sanded and compound polished, so there is no orange peel on the car. I guess it’s what you’d consider a ‘show finish’, and was not a cheap job when you consider all the time and materials that went into it.
