WRX / STi 01 - 07 Cold Air Intake

We have proven on the track and Dyno that our Cold Air Intakes do not cause lean out conditions to make increased power.

On our MY06 WRX STi already fitted with a Hyperflow TMIC, the cold Air Intake increased power by 8.6kw at the wheels (from 177.3 kw to 185.9 kw). This car on same dyno in standard configuration had 159.2kw before fitting the Hyperflow TMIC.

It should be noted the Hyperflow Cold Air Intake would increase induction noise with the free flowing Air Filter. You can also hear the sound of the BOV venting back on gear changes and free rev.

Hyperflow CAI's come with the same size bore as the OEM airbox so they can be fitted to standard setup without the need of a retune. (for best results re tune once all parts are fitted to get the most out of your package.)

FILTER CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

CLEANING:
Wash using mineral turps. Use a turps soaked cloth and wipe dust from the filter surface. Service every 10,000km, however if driving in dusty conditions service at 5,000km.

RE-OILING:
Mix ?Filter Fix? oil with mineral turps at 50/50 ratio. Apply mix to the entire foam surface then pad excess until foam is moist, but not wet.

WARNING:
Strongly advise against using filter oil designed for cotton gauze filters. This filter oil may seem similar but it is far from it. If you use this type of oil you may run the risk of severely damaging your engine.

Hi Hyperflow,

Was the car's MAF re-scaled on the second dyno run to allow for the larger I.D of your CAI?
This leaner AFR could be the reason for a higher peak KW output.

Our CAI is the same diameter as the factory airbox ~67mm. We have other graphs on file from the same run showing consistent AFR between both runs.

IIRC, the OEM AFM tunnel on the airbox is 65mm.

Did the test car have an aftermarket or standard exhaust system?

Cheers

This particular 06 Sti was was fitted with an MRT TBE system for both the before and after run that was done on the same day.

It was EcuTek tuned when the exhaust was fitted before this test when the induction system was factory. No tuning was done between changing the intercoolers and intake components during these series of tests. AFR's and boost pressures where monitored and where consistent between runs.
